ROCKFORD — This week’s installment of the Rockford Register Star’s weekly sports podcast "Not Just a Game," hosted by sports writer Jay Taft, spotlights three high school seniors who are missing out on their final spring sports season.

Last Friday’s first "Not Just a Game" podcast, featuring IHSA Executive Director Craig Anderson, discussed whether the spring sports season could be saved.

This week, Anderson and the IHSA board of directors decided to cancel spring state tournaments, although there remains a chance for local games if the COVID-19 pandemic eases.

For the second spring installment of "Not Just a Game," Taft talked to three high school seniors who would have been taking part in a sport to get their reaction to the IHSA decision.

Taft talked to Belvidere North runner Madison Diercks, Hononegah football and baseball player Payton Mather and Stillman Valley catcher Aubrey Ashlock.

Here it is.
