Jefferson 65, Hononegah 49

A dominant 42-point second half lifted Jefferson to victory over Hononegah on Wednesday night. Jaquavion Robinson nailed five of the J-Hawks 10 3-pointers and was the leading scorer for Jefferson with 17. Robinson was complemented by teammates Lajuan Morris (15 points) and Latrell Graham (11 points). Senior Nick Pierson led the way for the Indians with 24 points.

East Dubuque 51, Scales Mound 30

East Dubuque improved its record to 8-0 when it cruised past Scales Mound 51-30. The Cougars held Scales Mound to single-digit scoring in three quarters. Payton Heller (16 points) and Layne Boyer (13 points) carried most of the scoring load for East Dubuque. Scales Mound made three 3-pointers in the contest.

Freeport 60, Belvidere North 50 (OT)

Kijuan Burns scored 20 points and Freeport used strong defense and depth to beat Belvidere North 60-50 in overtime Wednesday for its first boys basketball victory of the season. The Pretzels (1-6, 1-2 NIC-10) struggled in the third quarter, scoring only four points against much-improved North (3-4, 1-2). Deron Lacy added 11 points, three steals and two assists for Freeport, which outscored North 32-16 in the fourth quarter and overtime. Burns had a team-high six rebounds to go with his 20 points.

South Beloit 56, IMSA 43 (Tuesday)

Travis Keen’s 28 points on 12 field goals carried South Beloit to a 56-43 victory over the Illinois Math & Science Academy Tuesday. Victor Ortega (12 points) and Cortez Johnson (8 points) also had an impact for the Sobos


Dakota 59, South Beloit 21

Dakota dominated throughout its matchup with South Beloit and held the Sobos to just six points in the second half. The three scorers who reached double digits for the Indians were Kaylyn Field (15 points), Laura Rankin (17 points) and Tabytha Toelke (12 points). Madison Pasiecznik and Jenna Lynde each had eight points for the Sobos.
