ROCKFORD — City First Church will host a drive-through food distribution starting at 10 a.m. Monday in front of the church’s main auditorium entrance at 5950 Spring Creek Road.

The event is held in partnership with the Northern Illinois Food Bank. Organizers said enough food will be on hand to feed 250 families or more than 1,000 individuals during the ongoing COVID-19 crisis.

Each recipient will be asked to remain in their vehicle with windows up while a church member donning personal protective equipment will deliver food to the trunk of each vehicle.

Anyone in the Rockford area in need of food is welcome to partake in the drive-through food distribution.

In addition to this effort, City First is also caring for the needs of the elderly and immune compromised by picking up and delivering their groceries and supplies as needed.

The church also has mobilized hundreds of team members and volunteers to pray for people 24/7. In addition, City First prays for medical professionals and hospitalized patients from their cars in the parking lots of area hospitals every Friday night.
