Michael Condatore seeks more than $50K for personal injuries, medical bills and emotional distress

ROCKFORD — Nearly a year after Winnebago County Board Chairman Frank Haney crashed his county vehicle, the driver who struck his SUV is suing Haney and the county for damages.

Haney ran a red light while driving east on Walnut Street on June 8, causing the driver of a 2016 Toyota Corolla to broadside Haney's county-owned 2017 Ford Explorer. Haney was ticketed for running the red light.

Michael Condatore, the driver of the Toyota, filed a lawsuit in circuit court on March 24. Condatore's lawsuit alleges Haney was negligent for failing to reduce his speed and obey a traffic signal.

Condatore suffered injuries to his chest, neck, back, hip, shoulders, hand, head, arm, leg, elbow and other parts of his body as a result of the accident, and has incurred medical expenses and has suffered from emotional distress, according to his complaint.

He is asking the court to award him more than $50,000 for his injuries and to hold Haney responsible for court costs associated with the lawsuit.

An initial court appearance before Judge Donna Honzel has been scheduled for June 24.
