ROCKFORD – A 23-year-old Rockford man was charged with battery and weapons violations after a woman was shot Tuesday night.


Rockford police responded to a shots-fired call just after 8 p.m. in the 1900 block of South Fourth Street. A short time later, officers learned that a woman arrived at a local hospital with a gunshot wound that was not life-threatening.


Juwan Wright was located and charged with aggravated battery with a firearm, aggravated discharge of a firearm, aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, and having no valid gun owners registration. He was taken to Winnebago County Jail.
