ROCKFORD — A Rock Falls man is being held on a string of drug and gun charges.

Winnebago County sheriff’s deputies say they saw a man around 12:30 p.m. Monday standing near a vehicle with a gun in his hand in the area of Eighth Street and Willis Avenue.

As the deputies approached, they say the man put the handgun into the vehicle and attempted to walk away, but he was stopped and arrested.

The deputies found a loaded .40 caliber handgun in the vehicle as well several drugs, the sheriff’s department said in a news release.

Winston R. Wilbanks, 33, of Rock Falls, was found to be wanted on a warrant out of Dixon for aggravated domestic battery. He was also charged with being an armed habitual criminal, armed violence, unlawful use of a weapon by a felon, resisting a peace officer, possession of a controlled substance, and possession with intent to deliver cocaine, ecstasy pills, fentanyl and heroin.

He is being held in the Winnebago County Jail on $95,000 bond.
