Tom Paine, a colonial patriot during the American Revolutionary War, wrote those stirring words referring to the darkest hours our colonists faced in their fight for freedom against the mother country, England.

Those were difficult and overwhelming odds they faced, but with sheer determination, the war finally ended with American victory in 1781.

"…that try men's souls," it seems to me, were the same emotions of fear, depression, uncertainties and hope our patriots faced that we face today with crises caused by the coronavirus.
