During our current health situation, many businesses have been forced to close and others are thriving. Essential or nonessential is the survival question. Unfortunately, the logic of the answers varies greatly.
The biggest winner in this area is Walmart. Their product variety is undeniable, yet others selling identical products have been shuttered. Others selling identical products are open for business.
The following are examples of illogical political decision-making: liquor store products can be unhealthy but remain open. Health store products are healthy but deemed "nonessential".
The result is that government behavior is causing legitimate legal businesses to suffer, and perhaps fail. As a Rockford-area consumer and business supporter, I object to this behavior in our community.
