ROCKFORD — Dr. Scott Trenhaile, a board-certified orthopedic surgeon at OrthoIllinois, is chairing a 10-week international medical education webinar series about shoulder repair for health care professionals starting this month.

The series, titled Why+How in Shoulder Repair: A Series on the Continuum of Care through the Orthopaedic Journey, is sponsored by Smith+Nephew and aims to provide continuing education and help surgeons and other health care providers connect virtually during the COVID-19 pandemic. A recent session about knee repair attracted more than 1,800 attendees online.

Sessions will take place at 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. Wednesdays from April 8 through June 10. Trenhaile chairs the later session, and Dr. Robert Litchfield of the Fowler Kennedy Sports Medicine Clinic in Canada chairs the early session. he live video webinars will cover everything from patient selection and imaging to advanced techniques in rotator cuff repair.

Trenhaile and Litchfield will return to moderate their webinars each week and lead panels with different faculty from across the world, representing more than a dozen countries on five continents.
