ROCKFORD — Cheap Trick's Rick Nielsen and Hard Rock International plan to celebrate Rockford Day by opening a Hard Rock Casino Rockford information center downtown.

Nielsen and his wife, Karen Nielsen, will be on hand along with son and Cheap Trick drummer, Daxx Nielsen, and son, Miles Nielsen, of Miles Nielsen & The Rusted Hearts, for the grand opening of the center at 1 p.m. Thursday at 308 W. State St.

There will be photo opportunities with the family and giveaways featuring Hard Rock Casino Rockford branded T-shirts, stickers and other items while they last.

The international casino, hotel and entertainment company plans to seek a license to open a casino at the former Clock Tower Resort property on East State Street near Interstate 90. The Nielsens are among the partners and investors in Rockford working to bring the casino to the east side location.
