ROCKFORD — ComEd recently held a graduation ceremony for 13 high school students at its training center in Rockford to mark the culmination of its Tools of the Trade program.
The seven-week, paid apprenticeship helps prepare students ages 16-18 for long-term careers in energy trades.
Students get hands-on experience by observing line workers in the field, networking with ComEd employees and learning about topics such as safety and how to apply mathematics in the energy industry.
Tools of the Trade is a partnership with the Boys & Girls Club of Rockford. Since ComEd launched the program in 2015, nearly 60 students have graduated.
Recruitment for the class of 2020 will begin in January. For information: email@example.com.
