NAPERVILLE — Two Rockford residents were arrested Sunday after police raided a home in this Chicago suburb and seized 68 pounds of marijuana, two vehicles and $4,000 cash.
The estimated street value of the cannabis is $311,000, according to Naperville police. Authorities say the home they searched in the 4600 block of Fesseneva Court was rented from a popular internet home rental site and was being used to conceal a large-scale cannabis trafficking operation.
Edwin Mendoza, 27, and Melissa Tavares, 23, both of Rockford, were charged with possession with intent to deliver more than 5,000 grams of cannabis and possession of more than 5,000 grams of cannabis. Cristian Valdivia, 22, of La Puente, California, also faces those charges. He was additionally charged with cannabis trafficking.
All three were taken to the Will County Jail.
