Most popular items: For breakfast, Crazy Zany ($6.95), eggs, American fries, bacon, ham and sausage scrambled with cheese on top; and lunch, IceHogs burger ($10), a half pound of hamburger, with a slice of ham and two slices of apple-smoked bacon, with garlic/lemon aioli and a pineapple slice, and it comes with Parmesan fries.

We ate: My colleague Susan Vela and I had breakfast at Sister's on Main on Tuesday. Susan ordered a breakfast sandwich with egg, bacon and cheese with sourdough bread ($4.65) and a side of American fries ($2.25). "There's so much food," Susan said as our server, Carissa Jordan, who also manages the eatery, placed our breakfasts on the counter where we were sitting.

Susan said the sandwich tasted good, with the bread and bacon just-right crispy. Her American fries? Just-right crispy on the outside, as well.

I ordered a skillet, my typical go-to breakfast at diners. The Farmer's Skillet I ordered — light on the green peppers — was as good as any I've had, and the price was right at $6.95. The hash browns in the skillet were crunchy the way I like them, the cheese melted well in the mix, and the over-medium eggs were cooked perfectly. I ordered wheat toast, which was as plain as they come.

Susan and I shared a small order of biscuits and gravy ($4.05). The gravy is a notch above others in that it not only contains sausage, but bacon as well, though I thought there was a little too much flour in the mix.

"Hmm" moment: The coffee tastes just OK.

"Ahh" factor: Staff is friendly and efficient, and the prices are right.
